5 Ways WBL Helps Me Focus on My Family

With the holidays approaching and Thanksgiving on my mind, I would like to reflect on what truly matters to me, and what I am thankful for. While I have a deep passion for my career, my family will always hold the most special place in my heart. As I considered my future as a young professional, I knew I wanted a high-impact career that added value to my clients, but I also wanted an environment that allowed me to be present and focused on my family. WBL has proven to be the perfect place for me to grow my career without losing sight of my true priority—my family.

Here are five ways WBL has supported me beyond my career:

1. Flexibility - Time is a precious resource that can never be reclaimed. As my children grow, I feel this more each day. WBL has provided me with numerous opportunities to adjust my career path to meet my family's needs. I work a part-time schedule that enables me to deliver excellent service to my clients while also having time to volunteer at church and coach my kids' cheer teams. I can adjust my hours to make sure I don't miss school performances or holiday events, ensuring I feel present when it matters.

2. Security - While flexibility is vital, having a sense of job security is equally important. Knowing I'm part of a team that invests in my future gives me peace of mind at home. Access to benefits such as disability and life insurance reassures me that my family will be protected if something were to happen to me. The firm's commitment to its independence and our collective futures boosts my confidence in the opportunities ahead.

3. Support - Many firms claim to support working parents, but WBL truly excels in this area. Maternity and parental leave policies have improved significantly since I had my oldest daughter 13 years ago. WBL stays at the forefront of employee benefits, including childcare assistance for children from birth to pre-K. However, what truly sets WBL apart is the intangible support from partners and team members. They are quick to offer help during challenging times, such as hospitalization or illness. They provide thoughtful gifts during busy seasons to acknowledge our support systems. It's more than policies—it's about people.

4. Openness - Although it may sound cliché, openness is a core value at WBL and is fundamental to how I can focus on my family. I feel comfortable bringing any struggles to the table, knowing that my team will listen, support me, and do their best to help ease my challenges. Being able to be my authentic self both in and out of the office allows me to thrive.

5. Inclusion - As a working mom, I see WBL's commitment to inclusivity across all types of families. Our diverse team celebrates various holidays and milestones, honoring the different ways people experience family life. WBL meets everyone where they are and embraces our unique traditions.

WBL has empowered me to advance my career while being the best version of myself at home. While there are many more ways WBL supports this, I hope this provides a better understanding of how WBL helps its team members prioritize their families.
