Williams Benator & Libby Receives Excellence in Firm Culture and Best Firm to Work For Awards

Williams Benator & Libby, LLP is one of only seven winners of INSIDE Public Accounting’s (IPA) inaugural Excellence in Firm Culture award. In addition, Accounting Today has named WBL one of the Top 100 Best Accounting Firms to Work For in the United States for the seventh consecutive year.

This is the first year IPA has evaluated and given awards to CPA firms based on the culture they create. Approximately 2,000 staff members at firms across the U.S. completed the publication’s 2019 Excellence in Firm Culture Assessment. The Assessment asked employees to evaluate their firms on a scale of 0 to 100 for 12 core culture qualities. The seven award winners achieved at least 75% of the total possible score in the qualities of agility, alignment, collaboration, customer centricity, empowerment, engagement, growth & development, innovation, quality, recognition & rewards, trust & integrity, and work-life balance. WBL’s staff members rated their firm an average of 93% across all categories. The average score across all categories given by all participants in the assessment was 77% and for the financial services industry the average score was 71%.

IPA also considered the firms’ employee Net Promoter Scores (eNPS) to determine the winners. The eNPS measures employee’s experience and willingness to recommend a firm as a possible employer to their peers. The average eNPS for the financial services industry is 22. It averaged 44 for the firms participating in the evaluation, and WBL’s eNPS was 84.

The Accounting Today publication also conducts an annual nation-wide survey of CPA firms and their employees. The survey asks firm leadership and employees to evaluate their workplace policies and systems. Employee feedback is then weighted to make up 75% of each firm’s score. WBL has been included in Accounting Today’s ranking of the top 100 firms each year since the firm began participating in the evaluation in 2013.

WBL Managing Partner, Bruce V. Benator, says, “Being acknowledged by these publications is independent verification of what we hear so often from our staff—that we have created a workplace that supports them both professionally and personally. We have an exceptional team that works hard delivering value to our clients and the community. It’s gratifying to know that our team members also feel that the firm delivers value to them and their families.”
