Jamie Burak is WBL’s human resources manager. To attract and develop top talent, she devises and implements recruiting strategy, oversees the firm’s training and continuing professional education programs, helps create the compensation and benefits structure, coaches staff, creates policy and helps enhance careers. Since joining the firm in 2009, she has worked closely with partners to implement “busy season” morale programs, coordinate after-hours events and volunteer opportunities for staff, launch a wellness campaign for staff, create an individual performance bonus and spot award program, develop a mentorship program, enhance the firm’s benefits offerings, and increase the firm’s outreach and visibility on area campuses. In 2013, WBL was voted by its staff as one of AccountingToday’s “Top 100 Best Accounting Firms to Work For.”
Jamie has more than 20 years of professional HR experience, previously working in the hospitality and rapidly-growing software industries. She says that her rewarding HR career has enabled her to combine her personal interest in psychology with the business degree her dad suggested she pursue. When not at work, Jamie spends time with her daughter, reads thrillers and looks forward to her next beach vacation.
